Abundant sources of grants for students pursuing college degrees in environmental science are available for both undergraduates and graduates. College grants for students studying fields related to environmental sciences such as biology, forestry, geology, wildlife conservation, natural resource conservation, geology, environmental law and policy, come from the government, colleges, universities, and private sources.

Support for academic studies and research into environmental sciences plays an important role in understanding the natural world. The impact of the human footprint, natural global resources, eco systems and the future of our planet are just a few important subjects that environmental sciene majors are responsible for researching and monitoring. Because environmental science is of global importance, annually, millions of dollars in college grant money for is made available to students working towards environmental science degrees and research projects.

Federal Government Funded Grants

In addition to maintaining an inclusive list of grant opportunities for environmental science students, the federal governments Environmental Protection Agency is a major provider of grants for undergraduates and researchers. The EPA provides continuous education support to environmental science students as a means to encourage careers with in the public sector departments. Students wishing to engage in active fieldwork or research projects to gain experience within a government sector or within one of their specialized EPA departments could receive grants to support their academic degree based studies.

  • The Office of Environmental Education provides grant programs that aim to encourage environmental science students to pursue careers in environmental management and environmental policy.
  • Undergraduate minority students studying towards an undergraduate degree can apply for grants from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). In addition, environmental science graduate students from the university can receive stipends that help pay for tuition through a partnership with Green Corps. This program is available to students who engage in grass roots level environmental projects around the globe through one of several Green Corps global projects.
